Job Description
Our organization’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is on the lookout for a skilled, board-certified Pediatric Intensivist , preferably with 3–5+ years of experience post-training , to become part of our collaborative team. The PICU is situated within a pediatric hospital that features an 8-bed PICU, a 30-bed pediatric unit, and a 6-bed intermediate care unit . Additionally, the PICU offers sedation services and benefits from robust support from various pediatric subspecialists, including neurosurgery, surgery, hematology/oncology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, infectious disease, allergy/immunology, pediatric anesthesiology, and a Level IV NICU.
Currently, our team comprises 3 physicians and 4 Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) , and we are looking to add a fourth physician to share 24-hour shifts, averaging 7–8 shifts monthly , typically organized in 2–3 day blocks. One APP is available for coverage from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. The average daily patient census is around 4. Some administrative duties will be part of the role, including participation in policy, quality improvement, and transport meetings, which are generally conducted virtually on non-unit days. Our greatest asset is our supportive and collaborative culture , where we work closely with specialists, nursing staff, APPs, and ancillary teams to deliver exceptional care to our pediatric patients.
